Mary Dinah Foundation (MDF) is the largest NGO in the world preventing malnutrition in local communities through the distribution of specialized nutritious foods.

Through its Zero Hunger Program, the Foundation provides emergency food relief and water sanitation, improves access to healthcare for infants and pregnant women, protects women and girls from gender-based violence, scales up refugee education programs and offers mental health support to individuals affected by conflict induced displacement.

About Us

Established in 2006, Mary Dinah Foundation (MDF) is the largest NGO in the world preventing malnutrition in local communities through the distribution of specialized nutritious foods. The Foundation implements initiatives addressing maternal health, infant nutrition, education, employability, mental health, gender-based violence, and marine and ocean conservation. With a dedicated team of over 200 staff members, MDF maintains programs across Nigeria, Cameroon, Chad, Ghana, Liberia, and the UK. 

In partnership with international agencies, its Zero Hunger Program has distributed over 42 million meals to date, serving up to 75,000 meals daily to vulnerable populations in conflict areas, including infants, pregnant women, refugees, internally displaced persons (IDPs), people with disabilities, and individuals living with long-term diseases.

Additionally, Mary Dinah Foundation leads the child protection agenda with governments in West Africa, working with orphanages, juvenile homes, and rehabilitation centers. In partnership with UNICEF on the Generation Unlimited initiative, MDF supports the empowerment of 20 million youths by providing access to digital learning, skill acquisition, and employment opportunities.

Nigeria

Zero Hunger Program Nigeria

The Zero Hunger Program Nigeria, a humanitarian initiative in partnership with USAID, has distributed over 20 million meals to refugees and internally displaced persons, with a focus on pregnant women, children, the elderly, and other vulnerable groups across Northeast Nigeria. Through the Zero Hunger Program, over a hundred thousand women have been protected from gender-based violence.

In addition to providing food assistance and nutritional supplements to vulnerable persons in refugee camps, the Zero Hunger Program Cameroon also conducts complementary activities such as cooking demonstrations, complementary feeding, and Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH) practices.

Zero Hunger Program Chad

The Zero Hunger Program Chad is dedicated to distributing millions of meals and supplements to refugees and displaced persons experiencing hunger and malnutrition, with specific emphasis on pregnant and lactating women and children aged 6 to 23 months in the region. The program supports vulnerable persons across the Sahel region including Niger, South Sudan and Central African Republic.

Miriam

Miriam

Miriam is a 30-year-old mother of four children and an Internally Displaced Person (IDP) from Gulani, Yobe State. She lives in an informal IDP camp in Fune village with her family. Miriam registered with the program while pregnant with her fourth child and started receiving nutritional supplements for pregnant and lactating women.

Umar

Umar is an 11-month-old infant. His mother, Maryam, is a caring mother of 6 children who lives with her family at Janga Village in Fune, Yobe State. When her family friends from Dogon Rijiya visited her village for a wedding ceremony, she overheard them talking about the distribution of nutrition supplements for children, pregnant and lactating women.
